The Straits of Gibraltar are the strategic passage between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

Our allies pressed us to join with them to act against the tyrant and restore order on the south shore of the Mediterranean.

The investigators theorized that about 20 million years ago, the Mediterranean was a broad seaway linked to the Atlantic by two narrow straits.

Crustal movements closed the straits, and the landlocked Mediterranean began to evaporate.

Before this happened, however, the Mediterranean was a vast desert 3,000 meters deep.

As a result of crustal adjustments and faulting, the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean now connects to the Atlantic, opened, and water cascaded spectacularly back into the Mediterranean.

While the Greek world had expanded along the Mediterranean seas lanes, the Roman world was assembled by territorial conquest.

It may have developed independently, but many scholars believe that the spread of agriculture and iron throughout Africa linked it to the major centers of the Near East and Mediterranean world.

The arch was used by the early cultures of the Mediterranean area chiefly for underground drains, but it was the Romans who first developed and used the arch extensively in aboveground structures.

To me the man had looked Mediterranean.

And recently there was an archeological excavation in Egypt, on the Nile River around where enters the Mediterranean Sea where they discovered an ancient glass factory.
