Okay, here's an example of a company that used this idea. A few years ago, this car company was coming out with a new model of car. So what they did is, before the car was even ready for sale, they ran commercials on television that showed a road, an empty highway, stretching out towards these beautiful mountains, and there was a vivid orange sunset over the mountains. It really made you want to be there. But that's all there was, just sky, mountains and the empty road, nothing else. At the end, an announcer, a guy's voice, came on and said the name of the car, and said they were going to introduce it soon. So of course, people watching the commercial were curious and wanted to see the car itself.
So then about a month later, the company showed a new commercial and because people remembered the first commercial, they really paid attention to the second one. This time, the car itself appeared. It was being driven down the same highway through the same mountains, with some close-ups of the car inside and outside. And I read later that because of this campaign a lot of people were calling the company asking for information about the car - and it ended up selling very well.
Explain how the example from the professor's lecture illustrates the concept of teaser advertising.
