[02:25.56]JIM:Hello, South City Cycling Club.
[02:28.62]WOMAN:Oh, hi.
[02:29.77]Er...I want to find out about joining the club.
[02:33.75]JIM:Right. I can help you there.
[02:35.98]I'm the club secretary and my name's Jim Hunter.
[02:40.06]WOMAN:Oh, hi Jim.
[02:41.27]JIM:So, are you interested in membership for yourself?
[02:45.11]WOMAN:That's right.
[02:46.42]JIM:OK. Well, there are basically two types of adult membership.
[02:51.31]If you're pretty serious about cycling, there's the Full membership.
[02:56.34]That costs 260 dollars and that covers you not just for ordinary cycling but also for races both here in the city and also in other parts of Australia.
[03:09.70]WOMAN:Right. Well, I'm not really up to that standard.
[03:12.98]I was more interested in just joining a group to do some cycling in my free time.
[03:17.94]JIM:Sure. That's why most people join.
[03:21.23]So, in that case you'd be better with the Recreational membership.
[03:26.48]That's 108 dollars if you're over 19,and 95 dollars if you’re under.
[03:33.77]WOMAN:I'm 25.
[03:35.43]JIM:OK. It's paid quarterly, and you can upgrade it later to the Full membership if you want to, of course.
[03:42.96]Now both types of membership include the club fee of 20 dollars.
[03:48.37]They also provide insurance in case you have an accident, though we hope you won't need that, of course.
[03:56.11]WOMAN:No.OK, well, I'll go with the Recreational membership, I think.
[04:01.63]And that allows me to join in the club activities, and so on?
[04:05.26]JIM:That's right. And once you're a member of the club, you're also permitted to wear our kit when you're out cycling.
[04:12.65]It's green and white.
[04:14.51]WOMAN:Yes, I've seen cyclists wearing it.
[04:17.03]So, can I buy that at the club?
[04:19.35]JIM:No, it's made to order by a company in Brisbane.
[04:23.76]You can find them online;
[04:25.93]they're called Jerriz.That's J-E-R-R-l-Z.
[04:33.41]You can use your membership number to put in an order on their website.
[04:37.76]WOMAN:OK. Now, can you tell me a bit about the rides I can do?
[04:42.13]JIM:Sure. So we have training rides pretty well every morning, and they're a really good way of improving your cycling skills as well as your general level of fitness, but they're different levels.
[04:56.23]Level A is pretty fast - you're looking at about 30 or 35 kilometres an hour.
[05:03.01]If you can do about 25 kilometres an hour, you’d probably be level B, and then level C are the novices, who stay at about 15 kilometres per hour.
[05:16.13]WOMAN:Right. Well, I reckon I’d be level B.
[05:19.82]So, when are the sessions for that level?
[05:22.29]JIM:There are a couple each week.
[05:25.26]They're both early morning sessions.
[05:27.67]There's one on Tuesdays, and for that one you meet at 5.30 am, and the meeting point's the stadium - do you know where that is?
[05:37.94]WOMAN:Yes, it's quite near my home, in fact. OK, and how about the other one?
[05:43.06]JIM:That's on Thursdays.
[05:45.19]It starts at the same time, but they meet at the main gate to the park.
[05:50.28]WOMAN:IS that the one just past the shopping mall?
[05:53.31]JIM:That's it.
[06:30.40]WOMAN:SO how long are the rides?
[06:33.22]JIM:They're about an hour and a half.
[06:36.37]So, if you have a job it's easy to fit in before you go to work.
[06:40.99]And the members often go somewhere for coffee afterwards, so it's quite a social event.
[06:47.70]WOMAN:OK. That sounds good.
[06:49.71]I've only just moved to the city so I don't actually know many people yet.
[06:54.31]JIM:Well, it's a great way to meet people.
[06:56.85]WOMAN:And does each ride have a leader?
[06:59.45]JIM:Sometimes, but not always.
[07:02.04]But you don't really need one; the group members on the ride support one another, anyway.
[07:08.00]WOMAN:How would we know where to go?
[07:10.25]JIM:If you check the club website, you'll see that the route for each ride is clearly marked.
[07:16.47]So you can just print that out and take it along with you.
[07:20.42]It's similar from one week to another, but it's not always exactly the same.
[07:26.61]WOMAN:And what do I need to bring?
[07:28.60]JIM:Well, bring a bottle of water, and your phone.
[07:32.39]You shouldn't use it while you're cycling, but have it with you.
[07:36.35]WOMAN:Right.
[07:37.45]JIM:And in winter, it's well before sunrise when we set out, so you need to make sure your bike's got lights.
[07:45.01]WOMAN:That's OK. Well, thanks Jim.
[07:48.15]I'd definitely like to join. So what's the best way of going about it?
[07:52.71]JIM:You can...
