Hey Mark, how’s it going? Not too good. What happened? Oh, I can’t find the key for my dorm room! I think I left it in my room! And what’s worse is I have a paper due today for my history class! And it’s locked inside the room. Oh no! How soon is the history paper due? Pretty soon - a couple hours. Uh-oh. Yeah, it’s a problem. I have a roommate, but he’s on the soccer team and he’s got a match in another city today. I doubt he’ll be back in time to let me in. Well it’s an honest mistake. Why don’t you just talk to the professor - explain what happened! I guess I could do that, just talk to her and ask to hand it in tomorrow? It’s not ideal. But... It’s understandable though. Yeah, the only thing is, I turned in my last paper a day late, and I don’t want her to think this is a regular thing with me. That I’m irresponsible! Ohhh. Okay. I mean, there’s one other thing I could do. Which is contact the campus facilities people. The people in charge of campus buildings? And have them send a worker to unlock the door for me! Ohhh! Well hey- that’s a solution! You think they’ll be able to do it soon enough? Well… Yeah! I think they usually send a facilities person right away when you call. But the thing is, I think there’s a fee for the service. You have to pay $15 to get the door unlocked.
Briefly summarize the problem the speakers are discussing. Then, state which of the two solutions from the conversation you would recommend. Explain the reasons for your recommendation.
