[00:53.96]MAN:Hello?
[00:54.92]WOMAN:Hi.
[00:55.74]It's Laura Carlton here.
[00:57.33]We've just arrived at the holiday flat, but I can't get the hot water and heating to work.
[01:02.71]MAN:Oh right!
[01:03.75]That's easy.
[01:05.37]Don't worry.
[01:06.18]In the upstairs cupboard, you'll find the water heater.
[01:10.20]You'll see three main controls on the left at the bottom of the heater.
[01:14.10] The first one - the round one on the far left - is the most important one for the heating and hot water.
[01:20.76]It's the main control switch.
[01:22.88]Make sure it's in the 'on' position.
[01:25.37]The switch itself doesn't light up, but the little square below will be black if the switch is off.
[01:31.44]That's probably what's happened - it's got switched off by mistake.
[01:36.33]The middle one of these three controls - you'll see it's slightly larger than the first one – controls the radiators.
[01:43.49]If you feel cold while you're there and need the radiators on, this needs to be turned to maximum.
[01:49.43]The last of the three controls – the one on the right - is usually on about a number four setting which for the water in the taps is usually quite hot enough.
[01:58.67] Below the heating controls in the middle is a small round Plastic button.
[02:04.41]If there isn't enough water in the pipes, sometimes the heater goes out.
[02:09.20]If this happens you'll need to press this button to reset the heater.
[02:13.30]Hold it in for about five seconds and the heater should come on again.
[02:18.30]Then there's a little square indicator under the third knob that's a kind of alarm light.
[02:24.28]It’ll flash if you need to reset the heater.
[02:26.93]WOMAN:It sounds complicated...
[02:29.32]MAN:I'm sure you won't have any problems with it.
[02:32.58]There should be some more instructions on the side of the heater.
[02:36.19]Call me back if you can’t make it work.
[02:38.47]WOMAN:Okay.
[03:27.72]WOMAN:While you're on the phone, we haven't managed to find a few things we need, like extra pillows for the beds and some washing powder.
[03:34.92]Is there any here?
[03:36.20]MAN: Pillows ...
[03:37.85]yes.
[03:38.92]If you look in the cupboard, the large white one upstairs - to the left of the bathroom door - there should be four or five on the top shelf.
[03:49.14]And if you want to do some washing, there's some powder for that ...
[03:53.75]probably by the back door.
[03:57.38]There's a kind of shelf there above the sink.
[04:00.42]In fact, I'm sure there's some there, in a large blue box.
[04:03.81]You need about half a cup full for each wash.
[04:07.37]And that reminds me, the spare key to the back door is hanging on a hook on the wall by the sitting room window.
[04:15.81] Please make sure to put it back when you've used it.
[04:19.00]The previous guests lost it in the garden and I had to get another one made!
[04:22.58]And if you have any trouble with the lamps, you'll find some spare bulbs in a large cardboard box.
[04:28.79]It's on top of the washing machine with all kinds of useful things in it.
[04:33.82]Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention when we last spoke...
[04:37.00]WOMAN:Yes?
[04:37.74]MAN: I’ve left you a local map, so you'll be able to find your way around easily.
[04:42.55]It shows the whole area.
[04:44.77]I put it in the top drawer of the chest under the TV in your bedroom.
[04:49.40]There's a whole file of local information in there too.
[04:52.59]WOMAN:Thanks.
[04:53.23]What about visiting the town?
[04:55.63]Can you give us any advice?
[04:56.98]MAN:Yes.
[04:58.37]You'll need to take the car.
[05:00.67]It's too far to walk from the flat really.
[05:03.28]You have to pay to leave your car in all the car parks now I'm afraid ...
[05:07.56]I like the one that's by the station best and you can walk to the town centre from there in five minutes.
[05:13.42]That's where all the best restaurants are.
[05:15.78]But if you want a takeaway, the Italian one does really good pasta and pizzas.
[05:20.41]Call 7-3 double 2.8-1 for that one, or 7 double 6, double 1. 9 for the Chinese.
[05:29.62]They're both good and they'll both deliver to the flat.
[05:33.52]As for places to visit, yes, do go and see the railway museum.
[05:39.71]The exhibition is small but really good.
[05:42.75]It gets very crowded on Sundays, so I suggest you visit it on a quieter day, later in the week, but not on Thursdays which is market day - you won't find anywhere to park and it's also the only day of the week when they're not open!
[05:59.19]Anything else?
[06:00.27]WOMAN:Not for the moment.
[06:01.28]Thanks!
